[mythtv-users] MythTV with an external tuner

This is where the IR blaster comes in, you use that to change the
channels on the external tuner. Once the IR blaster is setup, you can
then set Myth up to run a channel change script to send signals to the
external tuner. You do not use the tuner on the TV card. You can do as
you are and run in composite in, or use coaxial and tune the TV card
tuner to channel 3.

Cheers...

Subject: [mythtv-users] MythTV with an external tuner

Hi everyone,

I have a satellite receiver (Bell ExpressVu) and am currently trying to
setup MythTV to work with it. I'm right now just in the very early
setting up/testing stages. I don't have an IR blaster yet.

I have a couple questions as to how this is supposed to work. I realize
I can invoke an external command to do the work that changes the channel
on my receiver. What I seem to be having problems with is actually
getting MythTV to change to a channel past 125. Any attempts to go
beyond 125 will either cause MythTV to hang altogether (as is the case
if I hit the up arrow when MythTV thinks I'm on channel 125 currently),
or will just revert to 125 if I, for example, type in a channel >125.

The feed from my satellite receiver comes into Composite1, and aside
from some performance issues (which I'll post in a separate email some
other time), things seem to be working except for changing channels
beyond 125.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks,
Jason.
