I would hope that the full fix also includes an
update to the wiki's coding standards statement
regarding that NULL was the past preferred
specification (where #5777 had some past
discussions).
I would be willing to bet that some of the pending
(for review) tickets with patches will now be using
(now) deprecated constructs. They should perhaps
be reviewed and either the patches updated, or
the tickets closed (WONT FIX?), to avoid polluting
the code base with the now invalid constructs
(some of those patches have been sitting in
the queue for review/commit/reject for more than
half a decade).
