I understood that it re-set 'startchan' on *entry* to LiveTV which is 
the source of the problem: if 'startchan' is bad, there is no internal 
way to get 'back'.

But in effect it doesn't matter whether it is on entry or exit. You 
either exit, or an error forces exit... In either case, it pokes 
'badchan' into 'startchan'.  And ummm,  hilarity ensues..

Thus my work-around to force tuning a usable channel. Not sure if the 
patch will work in all cases, such as trying a second bad channel after 
exiting a bad channel..
