Thanks JYA & Thomas,

upgraded my Combined FE/BE last night from 12.04 to 14.04 (if it ain't
broke, why fix it), unfortunately grub broke but was easily able to repair
it after some wasted time attempting to recover from grub rescue with the
excellent boot-repair utility from a live distro
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair

all the FE's are running 14.04 but as the BE had no problems it had not
been upgraded due to the time it took to originally get the imon remote
working :)

Cheers,

Anthony
