The top line is that it works, but not the first time. Details...

Photo
-first time, selected a photo, brought up the AirPlay chooser and
selected the frontend. Photo did not display, no Notifications; went
back to the AirPlay chooser, the FE was still listed as the
destination.
-second time, toggled AirPlay chooser between the iPhone and the FE.
Photo DID display!!
-subsequent attempts all worked.

Video
-first time, noticed that the FE didn't have the AppleTV icon in the
AirPlay chooser, went ahead anyway. Error dialog: "The operation
could not be completed. An unknown error occurred (-6705)."
-second time, Notification displayed including preview image from the
video. However, video did not play, got Notification that client
disconnected. On iPhone, FE was no longer selected as destination in
AirPlay chooser (reverted to iPhone).
-third time, video played normally.

Photo slideshow
-first time, no photos, no Notifications.
-second time, photos displayed.
-third time, selected a song to play with the slide show. Both played.

Music
-audio plays normally including album art displayed in Notification.

All the above under 10.6.8 on a Core i7 MacBook Pro. In Console.app,
there were a handful of errors reported (a couple reference AirPlay
specifically); details at the bottom of this email.

Next steps...I'll retry the MacPorts-produced frontend including
multiple attempts on photo AirPlay. I'll look for album art/video
previews in the Notifications.

BTW, I found and installed a simple app last night that uses the
MacPorts Qt4 libraries/frameworks (QIviewer) to test png display.
All the images displayed OK. I'll apply that patch in your other
email and see if it can display the AirPlay image.

Craig

PS why is your build tagged "v0.27-196-g3ca3f6d"; where did the "g"
come from? Isn't it based on:
