Mariadb is now standard on Fedora and dropped right into place without 
any problems.
On Fedora 20 updated, it reports itself as:

#mysql --version
mysql  Ver 15.1 Distrib 5.5.36-MariaDB, for Linux (x86_64) using 
readline 5.1
