I’d make a similar complaint about the wsdl service too - you get xml regardless of what you ask for. This is annoying now that there’s been a rename for an api method since the (apparently) only way to discern the api version is to pull down the wsdl xml and parse for the third word of a text string. It would be much better to have an explicit attribute for version or even better a dedicated api call.
