I'm guessing you are using shepherd (australia + xmltv) and suggest you
consider writing a post processor for that instead. After all its
designed for exactly such enhancements.

Looking at http://svn.whuffy.com/browser/trunk/postprocessors I see
tvdb and imdb modules already, maybe you can simply enable them and get
original airdates for everything.
