This is good question.
This patch is definitely NOT for Joe Average, as usually Joe Average not
understands what serviceid/mplexid is :-P
Only issue with this patch I see, it that such Joe will play with
settings he don't understands.
But current mytweb allows this in many other places, so it point me that
current user base is not from such group.
By this I don't think applying this patch will make support forums
flooded with support requests...
Regarding finding mplexid: if given channel is moved to another mplex
and this mplex has at least 1 channel already used by myth, it is fairly
simple:
User can find on kingofsat.net this already used by myth channel as it
shares mplex with channel in question. Knowing such channel allows user
to lookup for it's mplexid on mythweb. Channel in question has exactly
same mplexid....
I used this method last year. So far I have +10 changes on my 2 SAT
providers and no single transponders rescan.
For me it is _significant_ relief as I have carefully selected/named 60
channels from +400 available...

Sure it is.
Issue is that:
-it requires significantly more work
-will probably somehow overlap (I hope) with ongoing myth-setup
conversion to new web based approach
