[mythtv] mythmusic not working for certain files (#9984)

Hi all,
I posted a ticket on this sometimes ago, and I understand that time is 
on short supply for everybody so I'd like to try to fix it myself, but I 
need some pointers:
the problem is with some flac files with 24 bits samples.
So question is: where is the decoding done (file, library) and how 
should I begin to track this down?
