I double-checked, since the sample is only the first 10Mb, and I can 
confirm it provokes a crash both in my regular frontend which is ubuntu 
11.10, and on my laptop which is debian squeeze

On my regular FE myth is from a precompiled package from 
http://ppa.launchpad.net/mythbuntu/0.25/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages

mythfrontend.real --version reports:

I have to run this one with VDPAU

I build my backend on gentoo with the mt-mythtv overlay ,and environment 
variables set like so:
export MYTHTV_GIT_REVISION="4f506d0"
export MYTHWEB_GIT_REVISION=4f506d0
export MYTHTHEMES_GIT_REVISION=4f506d0
.
I copied the source from that and built on my laptop (after make 
distclean and a ./configure run). That build also crashes in the same 
spot:.
