have you  set "quicktune for livetv only" when you set up inputs in 
mythtv-setup? that would stop passive scanning for eit on livetv, but 
allow for recordings.

If you check:


SELECT * FROM cardinput;

and any of the inputs are set to anything other than 0, then passive eit 
will be inhibited, i think 2 is both, and 1 is livetv only.
