[mythtv] DXVA Support in MythTV

First of all, I would like to apologize for my comment on ticket #8260. I
just re-read “How to Create a Ticket” at
http://code.mythtv.org/trac/wiki/TicketHowTo and this comment should have
been directed towards the mailing list. I appreciate the efforts from all
of the developers, and did not intend to be a distraction.

I am extremely interested in the Windows development of myth frontend. Our
family desktop is running Win7 x64, but is not powerful enough to play HDTV
without DXVA2. However, it is equipped with a nVidia GeForce 8400 GS.

I have been following ticket #8260 “Add DXVA2 support” eagerly now for about
7 months and am curious about the status. It seems development on this
ticket has halted. I would like to see what I can do to help get this
feature integrated into MythTV. I just started dabbling with debugging
within Linux, so I don’t think integrating this feature myself is feasible.
I could assist in testing and am open to learn from others.

Are there any major issues for why there hasn't been much activity with
DXVA2 in MythFrontend? A comment from 8 months ago states “I'll produce a
second version after the next ffmpeg sync - upstream ffmpeg has a few
fixes/changes and addds mpeg2 support.” Is there a basic task list for what
is involved with integrating this feature?

I hope I can help with this ticket and am looking forward to hearing your
responses. Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience of my earlier Trac
comment.
