OK, it's fixed in 688828a2c .  I apologize for taking so long to get it 
in.  I was stuck in the mire of our labyrinthine configuration issues 
with config.xml/mysql.txt/upnp-autoconf and failing host pings causing 
DB configuration to be ignored and UPnP preferred and such.  It took me 
way too long to actually get the code to trigger so I could verify the 
before/after differences.

In other words, I was stuck in the mess that I hope to clean up a bit, 
soon, starting with a patch Stuart M wrote and that I plan to extend.
