Indeed. It looks like there was something strange in my tree:

% svn status libs/libmythdb/mythcorecontext.cpp
      C libs/libmythdb/mythcorecontext.cpp
      >   local edit, incoming delete upon update
% svn diff libs/libmythdb/mythcorecontext.cpp
%


rm, svn revert, svn up, make

All good now. Thanks for calming my fears!
