Incidentally, a few times I have also desired a
routine that parses the output from a command.

e.g. QString result = myth_process(QString("udevinfo -q %1 -rp %2")
                                   .arg(name).arg(sysfs));


Just something for us to think about,
while I debug QFSFileEnginePrivate::nativeRead()
in qt-*-4.6.0/src/corelib/io/qfsfileengine_unix.cpp
