Please try the Xv video renderer--change MythTV to use the Slim playback 
profile group (unmodified from its original configuration - 
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Playback_profiles ).  If seeking works with 
Xv renderer, then it's almost definitely #9144 (or at least some other 
renderer/rendering issue).

FWIW, I spend quite a bit of time in the editor testing patches and 
changes I've been working on, and have not seen any such issues since 
http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/8842 .  I'm currently using the Xv 
renderer on my development box, so I have a feeling everything will work 
fine with Xv rendering.

The only other thing I can imagine that might cause issues is broken 
seek tables.  And, it seems that there are issues with either seek table 
generation or seek table interpretation.  Gavin H. has been spending a 
ton of time trying to track down the problem.
