[mythtv] How to disable PIC in my build

I'm getting closer to successfully building on Mac OS X (Snow Leopard) but one problem keeps cropping up.

I'm getting the following error:
swscale_template.c:2053: error: PIC register ‘%ebx’ clobbered in ‘asm’

From several different libraries. 

Some googling came up with disabling PIC (right now my gcc line has '-fPIC' -DPIC), but I'm not sure how to go about disabling it from my osx-packager.pl script.

Any thoughts?
