Good suggestion.  I killed the mtd process and tried again.  It is now
using the correct (new) directory to extract the .vob file.  Thanks.

Unfortunately the ripping process dies in the next step when it tries
to transcode the .vob file.  Not sure of the root cause yet.  I did
see a problem on the "Rip DVD" menu page.  The "Rip Quality" setting
gets reset to "ISO Image" when the user cycles through the
previous/next titles on the disc.  That could mean the "Rip Quality"
setting is being lost/ignored.  Maybe that is why the transcode fails?
