What's more, all the -ui files are documented, such as:

If you have read the core theme documentation thoroughly, understand
the concepts of each widget, and complete the tutorial, then you will
be able to use any of these -ui.xml documentation files to complete or
modify a screen.  Theming is complicated enough that you need to
understand basic concepts to succeed at it-- to be unwilling to take
the time to understand all the concepts and then blame the
documentation when things are non-obvious to you is frustrating to say
the least.
