One last thought & then i'll shut up.
2 of the menu themes have "optical_menu" if we tried to use that and then
fall back to videomenu if it can't load it, that could provide a better
interface for handling dvd on insertion & is also looks the same as you get
from the rest of that theme. 
The other 2 menu themes use the default videomenu anyway so would continue
to be consistent.
If i made a patch to do that would you accept it?
