After massaging Matthias' patch to apply to current -fixes, early
testing with the new file writer still indicates more loss than the
(elapsed time - 5 seconds ± 2 seconds) with FireWire recordings I get
with a buffer-boosed stock writer. I'll continue to test the new
writer unmodified for a few days before boosting its buffer a bit,
too.
