it was ffmpeg's demuxing. Packets were only emitted after the next
packet started which is a problem for distant packets like DVB
subtitles. Fixed in trunks [24242] and submitted to ffmpeg. I'll
backport it next week.

There's still a short delay. I've seen 20-30ms but it's probably too
short to notice.
