Apologies for following up on myself but I've been trying with this
and still not getting the default authority populated. I emptied
channelscan,channelscan_channel,channelscan_dtv_multiplex,program,dtv_multiplex
and eitcache. Did a scan with mythtv-setup -v
channel, channelscan, siparser. Most of the output does not mean that
much to me but I see default authority descriptors mentioned:
2009-10-24 00:36:21.825 ChannelScanSM(/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0):
Got a Service Description Table for Channel 26
SDT: TSID(0x4000) original_network_id(0x233a) services(19)
Service # 0 SID(0x4180) eit_schd(f) eit_pf(f) encrypted(f)
Service descriptors length: 25
ServiceDescriptor: 305 (TV)
DefaultAuthorityDescriptor: Authority(fp.bbc.co.uk)
Service # 1 SID(0x41c0) eit_schd(t) eit_pf(t) encrypted(f)
Service descriptors length: 30
ServiceDescriptor: BBC FOUR (TV)
DefaultAuthorityDescriptor: Authority(fp.bbc.co.uk)
Service # 2 SID(0x4240) eit_schd(t) eit_pf(t) encrypted(f)
Service descriptors length: 30
ServiceDescriptor: CBeebies (TV)
DefaultAuthorityDescriptor: Authority(fp.bbc.co.uk)
Service # 3 SID(0x4280) eit_schd(t) eit_pf(t) encrypted(f)
However looking in channelscan_channel and channel the default
authority is blank

Is there something else I need to clear out first or is there still an
issue here?
