[mythtv] UPnP server and transcoding

Some recent DLNA and PS3 posts have gotten me to thinking about the MythTV
UPnP server and transcoding.

It seems like the biggest problem is that different PnP clients have
different format support for content. Is there a notion of an "accepts"
function in the PnP protocol that allows the client to tell the server what
media formats it will support?

If so, would it make sense for Myth to try and transcode content on the fly
when serving UPnP clients?
