Sounds like a great project :)

For your own convenience, it may be easier to use git and git-svn. I've 
been using it for working on svn-based projects and making my own 
branches. It's very, very easy to update and merge in the upstream 
changes. github.com is a useful resource for pushing your repo to too. 
Just thought I'd mention it in passing as I read the list :p
