I'm thinking that a buttonlist would an interesting way of handling it. Put
all the visible frames in a single list, have an enlarged selected item with
centre scrolling (as the defaults, but this would be upto the themer). New
frames could be added to the list as we scroll and the old ones removed for
memory reasons.

The marking of frames as cut/cutpoint/other would be handled through
statetypes for the button items. This would permit any imagery or to
overlay/caption the frame.

An additional imagetype for the selected frame, giving the themer the option
of a further enlarged version outside the list.

Optional textareas for all the metadata.

Cut point bar is something I need to create for the OSD anyway, there is no
widget suitable for that yet.

Using a buttonlist would give instant mouse/touchscreen support for selecting
items from the list
