Well, I guess it's a matter of opinion.. I know how my brain work ...

Porting a code that you know work, is IMO much easier than debugging
something that doesn't.

Do you have write SVN access ?

Quite frankly, if I started working on trunk (and I am more than
willing to) I can't be bothered having to submit patches and then go
through the frustration of never seeing them actually committed.
When I see the behaviour of some development members, I have no doubt
that this is likely going to happen that way.
I don't want my time to be wasted like this.
