gigem == me, and I said "If anything, [...] ever so slightly more
jerky."  IOW, any difference was barely noticeable, and for all I
know, your change might even look smoother if I tried again it was
that close.

To let others speak up is why I just didn't check it in.  I'd really
rather not add another config option unless it's absolutely needed.
We've got too many already.

If you use RTC timing, you need to enable "Xv sync to VBlank" in
nvidia-settings to get rid of tearing.  The downside of using RTC
timing is the video can be 16ms out of sync with the display and
audio.  It's better than tearing, though, when OpenGL timing doesn't
cut it.
