[mythtv] trouble with FreeType on configure

I am trying to install myth-tv 0.21.  Immediately up running configure, I
get an error telling me I don't have Freetype.

[root at kameronclinux mythtv-0.21]# ./configure
ERROR! You must have FreeType installed to compile MythTV.
If you think configure made a mistake, make sure you are using the latest
version from SVN.  If the latest version fails, report the problem to the
mythtv-dev at mythtv.org mailing list or IRC #mythtv on irc.freenode.net
Include the log file "config.err" produced by configure as this will help
solving the problem.



I know this is wrong, because I installed Freetype:

[root at kameronclinux install]# yum install freetype
Loaded plugins: changelog, downloadonly, ibm-01-stop-sav, ibm-additional-
              : metadata, ibm-cds-plugin, ibm-house-cleaning,
ibm-repository,
              : ibm-security, rhnplugin, security
This system is not registered with RHN.
RHN support will be disabled.
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
Package freetype-2.2.1-20.el5_2.i386 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do
