Why? Why does it matter? The developers (the ones who do all the work)
don't feel it's time for a 1.0. You trust them with recording your tv,
not crashing your box, not putting in stealth root kits, but you don't
trust them with setting a numeric string that has absolutely no
bearing on reality? Why don't you just patch it to say 1.0, that way
you can have your happy version string. You can even use
http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/changeset/16542 as a basis for the patch.

Messages like this don't help development in the least and just adds
noise to already cluttered mailboxes. It's not as if the dev's don't
know of the 'magic' 1.0 number or need reminded that it's oh so
important...

This isn't just aimed at Dave, this can be also said to the folks who
want to change the release schedule. Let the developers do the work,
and if you don't like it, do it yourself...

All in all, it should not be on the dev mailing list.

Now, don't take this too harshly or personally Dave. It's a topic
that's been beaten to death over and over and over again...
