Certainly, and while that works okay, what about saying:

"I have 2 large eggs, what can I make?"

Or using an indgredient like pork sausage wouldn't match sausage -
pork or the like.

Hence why a lot of programs tend to split out the indgredients into a
seperate second that understands the base indgredient and the
attributes to it.

It also allows you to do the magic of

"Make this recipe that serves 5 into one that serves 7" or the like
