 Well, you could use 

 "HOME=/tmp/moo mythfrontend"

 To set home, but we also have MYTHCONFDIR which just assumes 
~/.mythtv unless told otherwise. 


 I've never tried to pass a variable to something executing from iniitab
though. Anytime I've had something running from there It's been
a shell script.
