I applied this patch to svn 14490 and didn't experience any issues
with the frontend transitioning to a new file in live-tv over an eight
hour period, however, while I didn't get a chance to test non-livetv
much, I did notice some other issues with live-tv.

We paused live-tv in a program and then came back a little over half
an hour later and continued watching the program. When we got about
half way through the recording (27 minutes into a 50-some minute
recording) it jumped to the beginning of the next show, which was
about 9 minutes into that recording. We rewound to get back to our
place and we thought it had hung transitioning to the older recording
because it froze for about 8 or 9 seconds, then went to an early part
of the older recording. Any fastforwarding took us immediately to the
newer recording. We were able to get out of live-tv and go to the
watch recording screen and play the live-tv file just fine.

I then turned on live-tv and went to bed. In the morning it was still
playing and there were no issues recorded in the log. When I tried
rewinding to a previous show, however, I experienced the same issue as
I had the night before and it happened for each show in the chain.
Rewinding from one show to another took an 8 second delay, then it
went to about the middle of the previous show and any fastforward
jumped to the next show.

I don't recall experiencing this issue before the patch, but haven't
specifically tested without it.
