"rpm -ql mysql" should show you the files and locations for mysql. On 
openSUSE here, the mythtv database is /var/lib/mysql/mythconverg. I 
haven't got mysql installed in Fedora currently.

More like running out of disk space rather than losing performance. It 
depends on how much you intend to store and to keep, 23G would be enough 
for me.
