[mythtv] Missing recordings, and recordings never ending

I'm missing some recordings -- the backend says it's recording, but the
recording never shows up.

And, I just noticed, when using MythWeb's upcoming recordings -- that it
thinks some recordings have never finished. I have recordings that are
"Currently Recording" for more than a week.

So -- I'm assuming that my database is becoming unhappy.  Are there any
sanity tools out there to clean up the db?  If not, I really don't want to
blow away my recording schedules, or my list of recordings I've already
seen.  Is there a way to backup that information, and re-create the
database?

Or -- I guess the easier question:  How can I make things happy again?
