Do you mean the libdvb stuff here? It's not clear to me exactly which
tool might be good. I -did- find dvbsnoop, which looked (despite the
profusion of options) like it might be useful, but
  dvbsnoop -if test.mpg -s ps -ph 0 -nohexdumpbuffer -n 1
just spits out a usage page with -no- indication of what it thinks is
wrong, whereas
  dvbsnoop -if test.mpg -s ts -ph 0 -nohexdumpbuffer -n 1
[I can't recall if ivtv streams are PS or TS or whether this might be
different between .18 and SVN] -instantly- complains that my 4G file
is too large (WTF? why isn't it treating it as a -stream-?) & googling
for that error yields one useless hit.

So I may poke around here a bit more, or hope ivtv's util dir has
something useful (or that ps-analyzer can be made to work), and
otherwise try mythtranscode if I can run it essentially standalone.
The commflagger certainly has been spitting out the occasional

    [mpeg2video @ 0xb791a834]Warning MVs not available
    [mpeg2video @ 0xb791a834]concealing 0 DC, 0 AC, 0 MV errors

(and others with nonzero values there), and I'm hoping that MTC will
spit out equivalent (identical?) errors if I run it over a damaged
file. (I never transcode, so I don't have any experience there.)
