i appear to be having this problem. i really don't remember when it
started, but it is a definite problem. i have taken pictures of the
screen in each of the modes 4:3, 16:9,... but will only send them on
request because they are big.

only 4:3 and 4:3 zoom seem to get it correct. in all the rest the text
appears to be "squashed" with characters overlapping each other.
this is on two different frontends, both running an up to date svn on
gentoo. one has an nvidia chipset and the other ATI, so i don't think
that it is the display.
