[mythtv] Backend hangups in r12594

Just updated to r12594 (up by about 100 revs from where I was - must keep
a note!!) and the backend gets into a loop that prevents any frontends
play any recorded TV material.

Either waiting for a VERY long timeout or restarting the backend is
necessary to recover.

I've got a playback trace from the frontend but I need some assistance on
what to log on the backend so I can report it before I revert back to
where I was to get a working system again...
