[mythtv] i am having problems with mytharchive

should mytharchive be able to work on a FE where it does not have direct 
access to the recordings?
i can watch a particular recording on my FE, but when i go into 
mytharchive and try to select the recording, my FE segfaults.

i've tried a number of different FEs (including the one on the same box 
as the BE). this gets the furthest, but i get a load of errors in the 
mytharchive log.

i hope somebody can help. this is the ireland england rugby match for a 
friend in australia. :-)
