There's a good chance this is fixed in current SVN trunk as there has 
been significant work on Myth's UPnP support recently.  Any chance 
someone with a 9800i can confirm/deny?

To the OP: if you can't upgrade to SVN trunk to test (remember, there's 
no going back once you upgrade--unless you backup ( 
http://mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-23.html#ss23.5 ) the database before 
upgrading and drop the database/restore the backup after downgrading), 
you should be able to pass the --noupnp option to mythbackend on startup 
(assuming you're using a recent-enough version of 0.20-fixes).
