I discovered the issue not because I wanted to disable both, but because I was 
using the --disable-all arg to configure and just enabling the 
plugins/options I needed. I'd initially missed the two additional configure 
options for mytharchive.

I'm probably not the only one who finds it easier to disable all plugins and 
enable one or two, than disable them all individually.

That would be a good solution. I only raised a ticket because someone else 
would have done so eventually - probably after a lot of emails to -users 
and -dev reporting that "mytharchive hangs".
