[mythtv] Nuppel Player Question

Hey all!

Quick question -- is Nuppel Player based off of mplayer at all? A lot of the
early documentation I've run into on other sites seems to suggest that the
mythtv player is mplayer-based, but the code doesn't appear to be that way.

Also, would anyone be opposed if I took a crack at refactoring the player
into smaller, more manageable classes? It seems to me that the class is
getting insanely hard to maintain.
