[mythtv] Ticket #1098: LiveTV Up and Down arrows doesn't obey the channel order setting

Additionally it is a good idea to check the return value from functions
everywhere in your program. 
Obviously there is a chance of the connection failing as there are some
checks  at some places for it in the code.
