Some providers specify an original airdate, which can be used, too.  
There's an option in SVN called "Sort Episodes" that allows you to 
choose "Record date", "Original Air date", or "Program ID" and "Selects 
how to sort a shows episodes" (i.e. does not apply to the "All 
Recordings" view).
