& I'd suggest the only thing needed, to make this approach part of the 
general release - assuming that is the goal, is to allow the functionality 
to be switched off by letting this be set/cleared in mythtv-setup - so 
that those who do not want radio do not get the channels created. 
(channels.conf import has always brought in radio channels if they were in 
the file)

It might be also be worth thinking about allowing the epg display to be 
segregated as radio/tv but as I personally use the radio as much as the tv 
I'm happy as it is.

Not really  ... I'd assume the same "concept" of dummying the input video 
is applicable but its a different bit of code that needs to be changed and 
is not a plugin - so don't get your hopes up!
