Machine details are as follows -

Combined Frontend Backend (dining/office)
Fedora Core 4
Kernel 2..6.15-1831FC4
Twinhan PCI HDTV DVB-T card
AverMedia AvterTV USB DVB-T box
Athlon 2400+
Nvidia FX5200, XvMC enabled to 1280x1024 LCD monitor
Audio - OSS compat. (/dev/dsp)

Frontend System (lounge area)
Fedora Core 4
Kernel 2..6.15-1831FC4
Athlon 2600+
Geforce FX 6200, component out (720p) to InFocus X1 projector, libmpeg2
Audio ALSA SPDIF to HT receiver (does AC3 nicely, I might add)

I'm rather happy with this setup, except the USB receiver box doesn't
work, and of course the transcoding issue. It plays the rather
sparse HDTV material we get here (Canberra Australia) quite happily as
well.
