I've been working on something that does this using GD, the main reason 
is to add an image gallery to the web pages.
It's not quite finished yet tho. The scaling and caching of icons need a 
couple of tweaks.
The gallery can be viewed here tho: http://irishmark.co.uk/mythweb/gallery
The idea is that when complete it will scale and cache images from the 
recorded pages, icons, mythvideo covers, thumbs and full images.


I'm not sure if it meets Chris' standards tho...
