And note that had you mentioned this on the mythtv-users list, someone 
probably would have told you that the symptom you've described will 
happen if you've configured a capture card that's no longer available on 
the system (or if udev assigns a different device node or ...).  (I 
think it may have been fixed to not segfault in some recent commit, but 
regardless, if a "non-existent" capture card is configured, you need to 
fix your configuration.)
