I have been tempted, but I'm worried sudden changes in the EIT stream
would make those backfire. I'd be happy to try stuff out, though.

I guess that would be more general than just for Finland, but it
sounds good. Is yours working reliably? I'd be interested in testing
it.

I have been considering things like that, but have not done it since I
actually use some of those prefixes in my recording rules :)

One annoyance I have with the Finnish EIT is that it has movie flags
on for all kinds of crap, so MythTV's built-in Upcoming Movies
function shows too much stuff. Using the prefixes you mentioned to
override the movie class in the EIT would be useful. Would you like to
co-operate in developing and betatesting that?

You mean the program title starting with ':'? I haven't seen those.

Sounds useful. I almost missed one episode of Sopranos because Nelonen
chose to once put '(K15)' in the title instead of the description.
This would have automatically picked up on that.

This one I'm not entirely convinced of. Certainly there's cases where
it would be useful (the Prisma documentary series, for example), but
there's also cases where it would split a perfectly normal title
apart.

I'd rather see it work out-of-the-box that introduce user settings,
but that much should be clear from the other thread :)

Seriously speaking, I guess the benchmark to compare to here are the
set-top-box EPG's. If fixups make the Myth EPG better than those, they
don't need to be perfect.

What would be a seriously cool function was a combination of
"user-defined" fixup support and an automatic web-based update of well
functioning rules. That would enable more aggressive fixup strategy
(of doing things that have a risk of backfiring when EIT data changes
format), since they could be corrected for end-users very fast.
Stuart, does that fit in what you're planning?
